Overview
JFL QXD 0-50 Grindometer (double-channel) is a testing instrument for the determination of particle fineness such as Paints, pigments and impurities in paint paste, with a range of 0-50 μm. The product is made of cemented carbide steel, which has good Abrasion Resistance and Hardness and is not easy to abrasion. Its production strictly follows the relevant Measurement Instrument verification regulations and meets national standards.
Features
1. Made of hard alloy steel, wear-resistant and durable.
2. Double-channel design, allowing for two parallel measurements.
3. Made in strict accordance with the "Grindometer" verification procedures, with reliable quality.
4. Range coverage 0-50 μm, Graduation is 5 μm.
Principle
The Grindometer uses a matching drawdown blade to scrape the sample across the groove at constant speed and pressure by placing the sample to be tested at one end of the groove with a precise depth scale. Since the groove depth decreases linearly from one end to the other, the particles in the sample leave traces at the depth point they cannot pass through. By reading the scale value corresponding to this point, the fineness of the largest particles in the sample can be determined.
Applications
Paints production, lacquer preparation, pigment dispersion, product quality control
Standards
GB/T 1724-93、GB/T 13217.3-91
Steps
1. Ensure that the scraper and drawdown blade are clean and drying.
2. Drop a sufficient amount of the sample to be tested on the deeper end of the scraper groove.
3. Hold the drawdown blade perpendicular to the surface of the scraper and scrape the sample across the groove in 1-2 seconds at a uniform speed and sufficient pressure.
4. Immediately after scraping the sample (no more than 3 seconds), observe the position where the particles in the groove are evenly exposed at a suitable angle.
5. Read the scale value corresponding to this position, which is the fineness result.
Notice
* Clean the instrument before use to avoid residues affecting Measurement accuracy.
* When scraping, the drawdown blade must be kept vertical and apply uniform and sufficient pressure.
The scraping operation should be completed within the specified time (1-2 seconds).
* The reading should be taken quickly after scraping the sample (no more than 3 seconds is recommended).
* The instrument should be properly kept to avoid bumping or abrasion of the measurement surface of the scraper and drawdown blade.
Fine gauges of different ranges are suitable for samples with different fineness ranges. Please choose the appropriate model according to the characteristics of the sample.
