Principle

The instrument evaluates the adhesion level between the coating and the substrate by cutting a standard lattice pattern on the surface of the coating and then using the specified tape for sticking and disbonding.

Steps

Select the appropriate test blade according to the coating thickness and standard to be tested (e.g. ISO 2409) (e.g., for 0 to 60 μm coatings, use a 1mm/6 tooth blade). 2. Install the blade onto an ergonomically designed tool handle. 3. Use a swirling/spinning cutting head to apply uniform pressure on the coating surface to cut out a standard lattice pattern. 4. Use the provided brush to remove coating debris from cutting. Apply the corresponding gluing tape according to the selected standard (ISO 2409 or ASTM D3359) and compact it. 6. Quickly remove the tape in the prescribed manner. 7. Use the provided illumination magnifying glass (3 or 10 times) to observe the flaking of the grid area coating. 8. Evaluate the adhesion grade against the rating chart in the standard.

* Please select the correct blade specification based on the film thickness of the coating to be tested and the standard followed (ISO 2409 or ASTM D3359). * For soft substrates such as wood and plaster, when the coating thickness is between 0 and 120μm, a 2mm/6 tooth blade is recommended (when following the ISO 2409 standard). Make sure to apply even pressure when cutting to obtain accurate test results. Please clean the tool after use and store all accessories properly in the hard case provided. * The blade is made of hardened steel, please handle it carefully to avoid scratches.
