Principle

The tape is a key component of cross-cut adhesion testing. A standard lattice pattern is created on the coating using a cutting tool, and then the tape is firmly adhered to the cross-cut area. The tape is then quickly removed and the adhesion level between the coating and the substrate is assessed by observing the area of the coating that the tape adheres to.

Steps

1. Use ASTM D3359 compliant cross-cut cutting tools to create the specified lattice pattern on the surface of the coating to be tested. 2. Clean the cross-cut area to remove loose coating debris. 3. Cut the appropriate length from the CHASTMTAPE tape roll and stick it firmly and evenly on the cross-cut area. 4. Ensure that the tape is in full contact with the coating surface, and quickly tear off the tape at an angle of nearly 60 degrees within 1-2 seconds. Check the cross-cut area comparatively according to the diagram in ASTM D3359, evaluate and record the coating adhesion grade.

This tape is designed for ASTM D3359 and should not be used for testing to ISO 2409. Make sure the test surface is clean and drying to obtain accurate test results. After sticking the tape, it should be quickly torn off, and the tearing action should be smooth and quick. * The tape is a disposable consumable and should not be used with repeability after tearing it off. * Please store the tape in a cool drying place to avoid high temperature or humid environment affecting its Tack.
