Principle

The Platts penetration meter is based on the correlation between soil penetration and dry density, water content and compactness. The regression equation is established through a large number of parallel comparison experiments between penetration and ring knife method, and the correlation data table between penetration resistance and dry density is calibrated. During measurement, the dry density is quickly obtained by looking up the penetration resistance table, and then the compaction coefficient is calculated.
