Overview
The XIONGFA XF-13173 apparent density (pb) meter is a dedicated instrument for measuring the apparent density (pb) of powdered detergent using the volumetric weighing method, suitable for free-flowing powders. The instrument can handle powders with a tendency to caking under appropriate funnel conditions, but the clumps are easy to loose and do not cause particle crushing. The apparent density (pb) is used to evaluate the mass-to-volume relationship of powders, but the measurement results are affected by the transfer process, product characteristics and compression and are typical for specific methods.
Features
1. The whole funnel is made of stainless steel, with a smooth surface and anti-static;
2. For caking trend powder, design specific funnel size: lower diameter 60mm, upper diameter 112mm, height 100mm;
3. Receiver volume accurate 500ML +/- 0.5ML, sampling 510-550ML;
4. Bracket to ensure accurate positioning of funnel and receiver;
5. The funnel outlet is equipped with a cut-off plate/baffle for easy powder placement.
Principle
Under specified conditions, the sample is leaked from a funnel of a predetermined shape, filled with a container of known volume, the powder mass was measured to calculate the apparent density (pb).
Applications
The apparent density (pb) measurement of powdered detergents such as surfactants and washing powders
Standards
GB/T 13173-2009、ISIO1064:1974
Steps
1. Place the funnel on the bracket and place the weighing container on the lower floor;
2. Cover the lower mouth of the funnel with a cut-off plate, pour the sample into the upper edge of the funnel, quickly remove the cut-off plate to let the powder flow into the receiver and overflow;
3. Use a stainless steel ruler to scrape the powder along the upper edge of the receiver, weigh m2, Balance accuracy 0.01g.
4. Calculate the apparent density (pb) of the powder according to the formula density = (M2-M1)/V.
Notice
• Only suitable for free-flowing powder, if the powder has caking, make sure that the mass is easy to loose and not crushed;
• The measurement results are affected by powder transfer and compression, and may be different from the original container density;
• Make sure the surface of the funnel and feeder is smooth and free of static electricity before use;
• The sampling amount should be controlled within the range of 510-550ML;
• Balance accuracy needs to reach 0.01g when weighing.
