Overview
The HI97738 Chlorine Dioxide Portable Photometer is an instrument for the measurement of chlorine dioxide (ClO2) content in water using the chlorophenol red method. As a strong oxidation agent, chlorine dioxide is often used in water treatment and disinfection processes. It can effectively kill bacteria, viruses and Miscellaneous microorganisms, and remove odor and color. It is widely used in drinking water treatment, swimming pool disinfection and industrial production to ensure water quality safety and compliance. The instrument meets IP67 waterproof standard and is designed with innovative Optical inspection system. It has High Accuracy, repeatability and fast measurement capability. The built-in CAL CheckTM function is used for performance verification and calibrating. It supports GLP display, battery status indication and automatic shutdown.
Features

8. Battery status indicator and automatic shutdown settings to optimize the user experience.
Principle
The HI97738 photometer is based on the chlorophenol red method for the measurement of chlorine dioxide content in water. The sample is irradiated at a wavelength of 575nm by LED Illuminant. The optical signal is captured using a silicon Illuminant and Optical inspection filter. The reference detector ensures fast and stable measurement of blanks and samples to calculate the chlorine dioxide concentration. Built-in Reaction Timer coordinates the measurement process to ensure conformity and accuracy of results.
Applications
Drinking water treatment, swimming pool disinfection, industrial production
Standards
IP67 waterproof standard
Steps
1. Turn on the power supply of the instrument and check the battery status.
2. Use the CAL CheckTM function for performance verification and calibrating.
3. Prepare the sample and place it in the reaction cup.
4. Start the built-in Reaction Timer to ensure measurement synchronization.
Read and record the measurement results, the instrument automatically stores the last 50 data.
6. After use, the instrument automatically shuts down after 15 minutes without operation.
Notice
• Ensure that the instrument is used at 0 to 50 ° C Ambient Temperature to avoid extreme conditions affecting performance.
• Regularly use the CAL CheckTM function to verify the calibrated status and ensure measurement accuracy.
• Use a standard reaction cup (diameter 24.6mm, inner diameter 22mm) to avoid errors due to Colorimetric cup defects.
• Battery life, replace the 1.5V AA battery in time to maintain more than 800 hours of use (no backlight).
• Follow Good Laboratory Practice (GLP) to record calibrated dates and times.
• Avoid prolonged exposure to high Humidity environments, although the instrument is IP67 compliant.
• Sample Handling is safe during measurement. Chlorine dioxide is a strong oxidation agent and should be handled with caution.
