Overview
The HI96814 is a refractometer that converts the refractive index of a sample to the Sucrose concentration (% Brix or ° Brix) as a percentage of weight, based on the method of the International Commission for the Uniform Analysis of Sugar (ICUMSA). Since the saccharide in grape juice is mostly fructose and glucose, the measurement of wine is often referred to as "apparent Brix". In addition, the instrument supports ° Oechsle and ° KMW scales for the measurement of glucose content in grape juice in the winemaking industry.

Principle
The HI96814 converts the sample to Sucrose concentration (% Brix) by measuring its refractive index, which is based on the standards of the International Committee on Harmonized Methods for Sugar Analysis (ICUMSA). The instrument also supports the ° Oechsle and ° KMW scales, where ° Oechsle is based on a specific gravity of 20 ° C, for use in the winemaking industry.

Steps
1. Use distillation or deionized water to calibrate a little.
Add 2 drops of sample to the sample chamber.
3. Press the button to start the measurement and read the result after about 1.5 seconds.
