The TRUIT TR 5122 Pendulum hardness tester is an instrument designed in accordance with GB/T 1730, ISO 1522 and ASTM D4366 standards. It adopts the principle of KÖnig pendulum, Persoz pendulum and double pendulum, and measures Hardness by the attenuation of the pendulum radiation of the pendulum rod on the film surface. The interaction between the pendulum rod and the paint film is complex, depending on the film resilience and viscoelasticity. The results of different pendulum types cannot be used uniformly. The test needs to be carried out under controlled temperature Humidity and no airflow conditions.

Principle

The Pendulum hardness tester works on the principle of pendulum radiation attenuation of the pendulum rod on the film surface. The softer the contact with the film surface, the faster the pendulum radiation attenuates. The interaction between the pendulum rod and the paint film depends on the film resilience and viscoelasticity. Different pendulum types (such as Koenig pendulum, Persaz pendulum and double pendulum) have the same principle but vary in size, swing period and swing. Only one type of pendulum is allowed in the specified damping time measurement.
