The FP6432 Flame photometer works based on the principle of flame photometry. It uses the thermal energy provided by the flame to excite alkaline earth metal atoms and make them jump to high energy levels. When the atoms fall back to the ground state, they will release a light spectrum with a specific wavelength (flame color reaction). The characteristic spectral lines are separated by equipped with corresponding filters and their light intensity is detected. Since the light intensity is proportional to the concentration of the element in the solution, quantitative analysis of the target element is achieved.
