Overview
The Platts penetration meter (model DB25-204DJ) is a fill Density Meter used to detect the dry density and uniformity of backfill soil. It can replace the ring knife method and the sand irrigation method for large-scale and multi-directional fill mass inspection at the construction site. It can reduce the workload of geotechnical testing and shorten the construction period. It is suitable for construction units delamination rolling delamination inspection, Quality control and supervision company sampling any layer, as well as on-site teaching experiments in Universities & colleges. The instrument has no radioactive nuclear pollution, is inexpensive, small in size and easy to carry. It has been included in international standards since 1982 and is widely used in engineering construction in the United States, Japan, Russia and other countries.
Features
1. No radioactive nuclear pollution, safe and environmentally friendly
2. Low price, small size, easy to carry on site
3. Detection is efficient and fast, only 15-20 minutes for a set of tests, much faster than the 8 hours of traditional methods
4. Detection depth up to 30 cm, and can be lengthened to 1.5 meters, can detect weak points and bottom hidden dangers in time
5. Suitable for a variety of backfill types, including clay, sand, and mixed soils
6. Automatic shutdown function, automatic shutdown or manual shutdown in 10 minutes
7. Measurement accuracy is high, ≤ 0.25%
Principle
Based on the correlation between soil penetration and dry density and water content in the geotechnical test, a regression equation was established through a large number of parallel comparison experiments between penetration and ring knife method, and the correlation data table between penetration resistance and dry density was calculated. By measuring the penetration resistance, looking up the table to quickly obtain the dry density, and then calculate the compaction coefficient.
Applications
Civil and industrial buildings, highways, railways, roads and bridges, municipal drainage, oil pipelines, water conservancy, dams, dikes, irrigation channels, reservoir construction, airport runway projects
Standards
international standard
Steps
1. Install 2 AA batteries (optional 5V DC)
2. Assemble the instrument, handle and probe rod
3. Select the test point and insert the probe into the soil to be tested, with a depth of 0-30 cm
4. measurement of penetration resistance
5. Check the table according to the measurement results to obtain the dry density and compaction coefficient
6. After the test is completed, you can manually shut down or wait 10 minutes for automatic shutdown.
