Overview
The HI4104 is a calcium combination Ion selective electrode (ISE) under the HANNA brand, featuring a liquid membrane design for the determination of calcium (Ca2 +) concentration in solution. The Electrode consists of a polyvinyl chloride (PVC) membrane composed of an organic ion exchanger that generates potential changes through calcium ion exchange between the organic polymer membrane and the sample. The internal sensing element is mounted in a durable polyetherimide (PEI) body and is suitable for a variety of applications in the food and beverage industry and in water analysis.
Features
1. Liquid Membrane Sensor Design Provides Stable Potential Response.
2. Skirt cone geometry, forming a liquid junction with the test solution at the tip of the cone, ensuring a highly stable reference potential and consistent electrolysis Flow velocity.
3. Wide detection range, from 0.12 to 40,080 mg/L Ca2 +.
4. Easy to maintain, the electrolysis filling solution can be emptied and replaced by simply pressing the top of the ISE.
5. Durable PEI plastic body enhances the mechanical strength and lifespan of Electrode.
Principle
The HI4104 calcium Ion selective electrode is a complete potential cell containing a silver/silver chloride (Ag/AgCl) reference encapsulated in a PEI plastic with potassium chloride electrolysis. The internal elements are separated from the sample by an organic polymer sensing membrane. When calcium ions are exchanged between the membrane and the sample, a potential change is generated, resulting in the measurement of calcium Ion concentration. The ionic strength of the standard and sample is adjusted to a high and constant value using a calcium ion strength regulator (ISA) solution to ensure a constant activity coefficient and reduce measurement errors.
Applications
Milk, serum, soil
Standards
Operating range: 4-10 pH, 0-40 ℃
Steps
1. Prepare standards and samples and adjust the ionic strength using a calcium ion strength regulator (ISA) solution.
2. Immerse Electrode in the solution to be tested.
3. Read the potential value and calculate the calcium Ion concentration based on calibrated Linear dispersion.
4. If necessary, press the top of the ISE to empty and replace the electrolysis filling solution.
Notice
• Make sure to use the Calcium Ion Strength Regulator (ISA) solution to adjust the ionic strength of all solutions to a high and constant value before measurement.
• Keep the pH in the range of 4-10 and the temperature between 0-40 ° C during operation.
• Regularly check and replace electrolysis filling solution to maintain Electrode performance.
• Avoid using Electrode in extreme pH or temperature conditions to prevent damage.
