Overview
The HuiNuo QAG Anti-Sag Meter (complete set) is a special test instrument designed according to the national standard GB/T 3186 to determine the relative sag performance of Paints. The instrument forms parallel wet-films of different thicknesses by scraping to evaluate the sag resistance of coatings on vertical surfaces. Please note that this standard method is not suitable for sag testing of varnish and powder coatings.
Features
Contains three multi-groove coating scraper, covering 50-275um, 250-475um, 450-675um three broad film thickness test range.
2. Each coating scraper can scrape out 10 parallel wet-films of different thicknesses at one time, and the thickness difference between adjacent films is 25um, which is efficient.
3. The width of the scraped wet-film strip is 6mm, the strip spacing is 1.5mm, and the design specification is convenient for observation and judgment.
4. Glass test plates with flat and smooth surfaces (200 * 120 * 2-3mm) are used to ensure the conformity of the test substrate.
Principle
The Working Principle of the Anti-Sag Meter is to use a coating scraper with a specific groove structure to scrape the Paints sample to be tested on the test plate at one time to form a set of parallel wet-film strips with continuous increasing thickness from top to bottom. Then immediately place the test plate vertically and observe whether the wet-film flows downward in the vertical state by using gravity. The critical wet film thickness of the coating that does not flow is determined by judging the maximum thickness when the wet-film does not flow to the next thicker film area.
Applications
Paints sagging performance test
Steps
1. Ensure that the test Ambient Temperature is 23 +/- 2 ° C and the relative humidity is 50 +/- 5%.
Sample sampling according to GB/T 3186 standard.
3. Keep the sag tester and test plate clean and drying.
4. Place the test plate on the platform, and the scale surface of the scraper faces the operator and is placed on the top of the test plate.
5. Stir the sample well and place a sufficient amount of the sample at the opening of the front end of the sprayer.
6. Hold both ends of the scraper with both hands, so that one end is close to the guide edge of the test plate, and scrape smoothly and continuously.
7. After the scratch coating is completed, place the test plate vertically immediately to ensure that the strip film is horizontal and thin at the top and thick at the bottom.
8. After the film surface dries, observe the sag situation. If the film of a certain thickness does not flow into the next thicker film, it is determined that the film does not flow under this thickness (the 20mm area at both ends is not counted).
Notice
• This instrument and method are not suitable for testing the sag of varnish and powder coatings.
• Tests must be carried out under specified Humidity conditions (23 +/- 2 ° C, 50 +/- 5%).
• Before use, make sure that the sag tester and test plate are clean and drying.
• The scraping operation should be smooth and continuous to ensure that one end of the scraper is always in close contact with the guide edge.
• The test plate should be placed vertically immediately after scraping, and the placement direction should ensure that the film is thin on the top and thick on the bottom.
• When observing the results, the area within 20mm at each end of the test plate is not included in the evaluation range.
• Three parallel experiments are required for the same sample, and the final result is expressed as the maximum non-flowing wet film thickness with at least two consistent results.
