Overview
QEY type powder rate tester is a laboratory instrument designed and manufactured by Kempf method according to German DIN53159 standard. It is suitable for measuring the degree of paint film chalking of paints and similar coatings to evaluate their aging status.
Features
According to the German DIN53159 standard design, the determination method is Kempf method.
The probe has a wide pressure range and can be adjusted within 50 to 250N.
3. Equipped with rubber probes with specific Hardness to ensure standardized test conditions.
4. The structure design is simple, mainly composed of pressing handle, stretching device, base, tray, pillar and movable frame, and the operation is intuitive.
Principle
The instrument makes the coating contact with the wet paper and compress it by loading a certain working load on the prepative film specimen under specific conditions. Subsequently, the degree of chalking of the paint film is judged and evaluated by comparing the chalking substance transferred on the pressed phase paper with the standard pulverization rate grade sample.
Applications
Laboratory film aging test, paints performance evaluation
Steps
1. In accordance with the standard provisions of the preparation of the test.
2. According to the test conditions of the test piece, adjust the required load grade on the instrument (e.g. 0-50N, 0-100N, etc.).
3. Place the test piece (coating facing up) on the tray, and then cover the test piece coating with the photo paper (smooth facing down) that has been soaked in room temperature water for 4 minutes and absorbed surface moisture with filter paper.
4. Hold the handle, press down to the preset scale value with even pressure, and then lift the handle.
5. Take out the photo paper and compare it with the standard pulverization rate grade template.
Notice
• The instrument should be wiped clean before and after use to avoid sliding abrasion of the tension rod.
• The parts of the instrument should not be loosened at will, so as not to affect the Measurement accuracy.
• The instrument after wiping should be stored in a ventilated drying place.
• The experimental results need to be compared with the standard pulverization rate grade sample to determine the pulverization rate grade.
