The MUT680C digital ultrasonic flaw detection (UFD) instrument works based on the principle of ultrasonic pulse reflection. The instrument generates high-frequency electrical pulses to excite the Probe (transducer), which converts the electrical signal into ultrasonic waves and passes it into the workpiece to be inspected. When ultrasonic waves propagate inside the workpiece and encounter defects or interfaces, reflection echoes are received by the Probe and converted into electrical signals again. The instrument amplifies, processes and digitalizes these signals, and finally displays them on the screen as waveforms (A scans) or images (such as B scans). By analyzing information such as the position, amplitude and shape of the echoes, the position, size and nature of the defects can be determined. The built-in functions of DAC/AVG Linear dispersion, gate setting, and automatic gain assist inspectors in conducting Basis Weight and qualitative evaluation of defects.
