Product Overview
The Computer-Controlled Softness Tester is an instrument designed to simulate the hand-feel softness performance. It is developed based on the testing principle of the American Handle-O-Meter, in accordance with the national standard GB/T 8942 "Determination of Paper Softness," ASTM D2923 "Standard Test Method for Stiffness of Polyolefin Film and Sheeting," and TAPPI T498 "Special Testing Instrument for Nonwoven Fabric Softness." This device is suitable for softness testing of hygiene products, fiber fabrics, films, and wires, and is applicable for material research institutions and quality inspection departments.
Product Features
1. Customization is supported, tailored to meet customer requirements.
2. Fully touchscreen control system with one-click data statistics function.
3. Fully automatic measurement with real-time curve display of pressure changes during testing.
4. Utilizes micro-sensor measurement and control system with automatic sensing core digital circuit technology.
5. Automatic reset upon over-range to protect precision sensors.
6. Base made of composite material with anti-corrosion treatment.
7. Built-in printer allows direct printing of test reports upon completing a batch of data.
Working Principle
Under specified conditions, when the plate-shaped probe presses the specimen into the slit to a certain depth (8mm), the instrument records the maximum vector sum of the specimen’s bending resistance and the frictional force between the specimen and the slit, known as the softness of the specimen. A lower instrument reading indicates that the specimen is softer.
Application Areas
Paper, toilet paper, nonwoven fabrics, fiber materials, films, wire rods
Conform to the standard
GB/T 8942、QB/T 1060、ASTM D2923、ASTM D6828-02、TAPPI T498、INDA IST 90.3、EDANA WSP 90.3
Operating Steps
1. Prepare the sample;
2. Place the sample at the instrument's test position;
3. Start the fully automated measurement program;
4. Observe the real-time curve display of pressure changes;
5. After the test is complete, the instrument records the softness value;
6. If a test report needs to be printed, use the built-in printer for direct printing;
7. Use the one-click data statistics function to analyze the results.
Precautions
- Ensure the specimen meets the test standard requirements;
- Check the sensor for proper operation before operation;
- Avoid exceeding the measurement range; when overload occurs, the instrument automatically resets to protect the sensor;
- Keep the instrument stable during testing;
- Regularly perform anti-rust maintenance on the base;
- Avoid pressing forcefully or using sharp objects when operating the full touchscreen.
