Principle
By applying a fixed load on the work rod and scratching the surface of the paint film with a pencil, the paint film Hardness is expressed by the pencil Hardness level of the paint film broken by ploughing. Steps
1. Prepare test samples and standard pencils
2. Adjust the equipment to the test angle of 45 °
3. Install the pencil and apply a 1000g load
4. Hand crank operation makes the pencil scratch at a speed of about 1mm/s
5. Observe and record the Pencil Hardness Level of the Plow Broken Paint Film
6. Clean the equipment and reset it
