Overview
The LABO LB-48B whiteness meter is a device developed for whiteness measurement in the paper industry. It can also be used for whiteness measurement of Miscellaneous materials such as flour, talc, plastic, and Pottery and porcelain. The instrument is used to simulate D65 Illuminant, diffuse/vertical illumination observation conditions. The internal reflection factor (%) of the material to the main wavelength 457nm blue light represents the luminance (whiteness) measurement result. The main test items include ISO whiteness (R457 whiteness), fluorescence whiteness, Lightness stimulus value, Opacity, transparency, light scattering coefficient and absorption coefficient, and inks absorption value.

Principle
The instrument uses diffuse/vertical (d/o) illumination observation geometry conditions under simulated D65 Illuminant illumination conditions to measure the internal reflection factor of the material to the main wavelength of 457nm blue light to indicate the luminance (whiteness) of the material. The instrument is equipped with a light absorber to eliminate the influence of the specular reflection of the sample on the measurement results.
