Overview
The SMART SENSOR AR931 Coating thickness gauge is a precision instrument for nondestructive measurement of coating thickness. It enables measurement of film thickness of nonmagnetic coatings (e.g. aluminum, chromium, copper, enamel, rubber, paints) on magnetic metal substrates (e.g. iron, hard magnetic steel) and film thickness of nonconductive coatings (e.g. enamel, rubber, paints, plastics) on nonmagnetic metal substrates (e.g. copper, aluminum, zinc, tin). The instrument has the characteristics of small measurement error, high reliability, good stability and easy operation. It is an important testing tool for controlling and ensuring product mass in the fields of manufacturing, metal processing, chemical industry and commodity inspection.

Principle
The SMART SENSOR AR931 Coating thickness gauge works based on the principle of magnetic Induction. When measuring magnetic nonmagnetic coatings on metal substrates, the instrument generates a magnetic field through the Probe. The magnetic field strength is affected by the nonmagnetic coating thickness, and the coating thickness can be calculated by detecting the change of the magnetic field. For nonconductive coatings on nonmagnetic metal substrates, the Working Principle is similar, and the coating thickness is measured by sensing the change of electromagnetic effect between the substrate and the Probe.
