GB/T 6283-2008 is the general method of Karl Fischer for the determination of water content in chemical products. The standard covers both the visual method and the coulometric method, and is applicable to the determination of free water or water of crystallization in most organic and inorganic solid and liquid chemical products. However, this method is not suitable for samples that can react with the main components of the reagent to produce water, or that can reduce iodine or oxidize iodides.
