GB/T 38978-2020 specifies the principles, equipment, specimens, test procedures, and result calculations for stress-strain testing of refractory materials. It applies to shaped fired refractory products, chemically bonded refractory products, and unshaped refractory materials. The test can be conducted at room temperature or specified elevated temperatures. A uniform load is applied to the specimen using a loading device until fracture occurs. The central deformation is recorded using an extensometer, displacement sensor, or laser measurement equipment. Instruments such as test furnaces, thermocouples, and vernier calipers are employed to control temperature and measure dimensions. Finally, stress-strain values are calculated based on the load and deformation data.
