GB/T 3903.4-2017
Footwear—Test methods for whole shoe—Hardness

This standard specifies the test method for the hardness of outsoles and heels of finished footwear. The core principle involves using a Shore durometer to press a specified-shaped indenter into the test specimen under specific conditions, and converting the measured vertical penetration depth to obtain the hardness value. To implement this method, a Shore Type A, C, or D durometer compliant with the standard must be selected and used according to the material of the shoe sole. During measurement, the durometer can either be handheld or mounted on a dedicated test stand to ensure stability.
