This standard is primarily used to determine the oil coating amount on the surface of tinplate (electrolytic tin-coated steel sheets) and can also be referenced for tin-free steel (TFS) surfaces. The standard specifies three specific testing methods in detail: solvent extraction, hydrophilic balance (contact angle measurement), and ellipsometry. Among these, the solvent extraction method is designated as the arbitration method. Depending on the testing method, corresponding key instruments are required, such as solvent extraction apparatus, analytical balance, ultraviolet spectrophotometer, hydrophilic balance (contact angle measurement device), or ellipsometer. The standard systematically standardizes the test principles, required reagents, test apparatus and procedures, result calculation, and report format for these methods.
