Determination of harmful substance emissions from synthetic sports surfaces—Environmental chambers method

This standard is a testing method standard for evaluating the limits of harmful substances released into the air during the use of synthetic material surfaces in sports venues. Its core method is the "environmental test chamber method," which involves placing samples in an environmental test chamber capable of precisely controlling temperature, humidity, and ventilation to simulate real-world usage conditions. Air from the chamber is then collected for testing. This method provides a more scientific reflection of the pollutant release levels of materials under actual conditions, compensating for the limitations of solely testing the harmful substance content in the materials. According to the standard, after testing is completed, analytical instruments such as gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC-MS) are required to conduct qualitative and quantitative analysis of the collected air samples to determine the release concentrations of various harmful substances, including total volatile organic compounds (TVOC), aldehydes and ketones, and benzene series compounds.
