This standard describes a method for determining sieve residue in untreated carbon black and powders used in rubber products using a water-washing technique. The principle involves washing away fine particles that can pass through a specified sieve from the carbon black sample with water, followed by weighing and calculating the content of the coarse particles and impurities that cannot pass through, thereby assessing the level of coarse particles and impurities in the product. During operation, key instruments and equipment are typically required, such as stainless steel sieves conforming to specific specifications (e.g., with pore sizes of 200 μm or 45 μm), a washing device capable of adjusting water flow rate, and a high-precision electronic analytical balance (with an accuracy requirement of 0.1 mg). This method is not applicable to the determination of oil-treated carbon black and powders. This standard is under the jurisdiction of the National Technical Committee for Standardization of Rubber and Rubber Products, and its technical content has been modified with reference to the corresponding international standard.
