This standard specifies the test method for determining the abrasion resistance of textile materials used in automotive interiors using the Schopper rotary friction method. The test is conducted using a Schopper abrasion tester (also known as a Schopper abrasion instrument), where the specimen is secured and rotated by an obtuse-angle conical chuck on the instrument. Under a set pressure, the specimen is continuously rubbed against a specific friction material (such as sandpaper) to simulate wear conditions in actual use. This method is particularly suitable for evaluating the abrasion resistance of interior materials primarily made of textile fibers, such as automotive seats and door panel trims.
