GB/T 1724-2019 "Paints, varnishes and printing inks—Determination of fineness of grind" is applicable to paints, varnishes, and printing inks, and uses a grind gauge (range 0–100 μm or 0–250 μm) to determine the fineness of grind. The sample is evenly applied to the bottom of the groove of the grind gauge and scraped vertically across the groove with a scraper. Under specified lighting conditions, particle marks on the gauge are observed, and the maximum groove depth corresponding to the particles that were not scraped away is read as the fineness of grind value. The standard specifies sample preparation, scraping operation, and reading methods. The difference between parallel determination results must meet the precision requirements, providing a basis for controlling product dispersion uniformity.
