Paints and varnishes—Methods of exposure to laboratory light sources—Part 3:Fluorescent UV lamps

This standard describes a method for exposing coatings to artificial accelerated weathering using laboratory equipment equipped with fluorescent ultraviolet lamps. The method accelerates the aging process of coating materials by simulating ultraviolet radiation from sunlight in real environments, combined with controlled thermal and moisture conditions (such as condensation or spray), to evaluate their weather resistance. The standard is applicable to various types of fluorescent ultraviolet lamps (such as UVA-340 and UVB-313 tubes) and allows for adjustments to test conditions, including ultraviolet irradiance, temperature, and light/moisture cycles, based on the requirements of different test materials. Compared to other aging test methods, this approach offers the advantages of relatively lower equipment costs and shorter test durations.
