Coating powders—Part 3:Determination of density by liquid displacement pycnometer

This document provides a laboratory method for determining the density of powder coatings. The principle is based on Archimedes' law, calculating the density by measuring the volume of displacement liquid displaced by a sample of known mass. The core testing instrument is a dedicated liquid displacement pycnometer (or densitometer). The entire measurement process must be carried out with the assistance of equipment such as an analytical balance with an accuracy of 0.001 g, a vacuum extraction device capable of controlling vacuum levels, and a constant-temperature water bath maintaining the testing environment at 23±0.5°C. This method provides a unified technical basis for quality control and production processes of powder coatings.
