GB/T 12911-1991
Paper and board--Determination of the ink absor-bency

This standard specifies the method for determining ink absorbency to evaluate the printing performance of paper. The core method involves applying a specific area of non-drying ink precisely onto the surface of a paper sample using a dedicated ink absorbency tester. After a specified period, the ink is wiped off, and the change in reflectance between the inked and uninked areas is measured. Finally, the K&N value, which characterizes the absorption performance, is calculated. This method is applicable to white or near-white paper and paperboard used for lithographic, gravure, and letterpress printing.
