Paints and varnishes--Determination of resistance to water--Water immersion method

GB/T 5209-1985 "Determination of Water Resistance of Paints and Varnishes by Immersion Method" specifies the method for determining the water resistance of paints and varnishes using the immersion method, applicable to various types of paints and varnishes. The test panel is immersed three-quarters of its area in deionized water at 40±1°C, maintaining a water conductivity of not more than 2 μS/cm, and changes in the coating film and substrate are periodically inspected. The test requires a constant-temperature water bath, test panel holder, conductivity meter, coating thickness gauge, and magnifying glass, providing a standardized basis for evaluating the durability of coating films in water environments.
