GB/T 10742-2008 "Determination of Pectin Content in Papermaking Raw Materials" specifies two methods for determining the pectin content in papermaking raw materials: the gravimetric method and the carbazole colorimetric method. Both methods are equally valid. The gravimetric method quantifies pectin by extracting, precipitating, and weighing calcium pectate, while the carbazole colorimetric method quantifies pectin based on colorimetric absorbance measurements.
