Principle
The core working principle of the steam aging chamber is based on the thermodynamic properties of saturated steam. The equipment is equipped with a heating system and a water level control system to produce pure saturated steam by heating deionized or distilled water. The temperature and pressure of saturated steam follow a correspondence, for example, the saturated steam temperature of pure water is about 100°C at standard atmospheric pressure. The equipment maintains the uniformity and stability of the steam temperature in the chamber through a closed-loop control system, ensuring that the specimen is in a constant humid and hot environment throughout the exposure process. Some devices can be programmed to control pressure parameters to simulate the steam environment at different altitudes or under specific pressure conditions.
Test method
The measurement of steam aging test is mainly carried out according to relevant industry standards or international norms. Common testing procedures include cleaning and recording the initial state of the specimen, followed by placing it on the sample rack of the chamber to ensure that the specimen surface is fully exposed to the vapor environment. During the test, the temperature, pressure and relative humidity in the chamber are continuously monitored and recorded (usually maintained at 100%). After reaching the preset test time, the specimen is removed and resumed for the specified time under standard atmospheric conditions, followed by performance evaluation. Evaluation methods can include visual inspection (e.g., discoloration, blistering, shedding), dimensional measurement, mechanical property testing, or electrical performance testing. The measurement of key parameters relies on the integrated temperature sensor, pressure transmitter and high-precision timing device in the cabinet.

The results of the steam aging test are affected by a variety of factors. Steam purity is the primary factor, and impurities in the water may form deposition or participate in chemical reactions, affecting the consistency of the test, so the use of deionized water is usually required. The temperature control accuracy directly affects the vapor saturation and aging rate, and temperature fluctuations may lead to changes in the condensation rate. The position and orientation of the specimen can affect the uniformity of vapor contact, and improper placement may cause local condensation differences. The tightness of the cabinet is related to the stability of pressure and vapor concentration.
