How it works:
The working principle of a single-sided wet film preparer is based on gap scraping. At its heart is a scraping knife edge with a predetermined clearance height. When excess fluid to be measured is placed at the front of the substrate and the preparer is pushed across the surface of the substrate at a constant speed and pressure, the edge of the knife flattens the fluid and carries away the excess, leaving a wet film on the substrate that is highly consistent with the edge gap. Wet film thickness (WFT) is theoretically equal to the nominal gap depth of the preptor, and the relationship can be expressed as:
