Definition
A temperature curve recorder is an electronic instrument used to continuously monitor and record the process of temperature change over time. It is usually composed of temperature sensors, signal processing units, data storage modules, and display or output interfaces, which can generate curve charts of the relationship between temperature and time, providing a quantitative basis for process monitoring and data analysis.
How it works:
Temperature curve recorders operate based on thermoelectric effects or resistance temperature characteristics. The sensor converts the physical quantity of temperature into an electrical signal, which is then sampled and stored by the microprocessor at preset intervals after amplification and analog-to-digital conversion. Data can be saved via built-in memory and can be exported digitally or graphically. Its basic conversion relationship can be expressed as:T = f(V), where T is the temperature, V is the voltage signal output by the sensor, and the function f is determined by the sensor type and calibration parameters.
Measurement method
Measurement is usually divided into two categories: contact and non-contact. Contact measurement is suitable for temperature monitoring in solid, liquid, and gaseous environments by attaching or immersing the sensor directly into the medium being measured. The non-contact type relies on the principle of infrared radiation to measure the surface temperature, making it suitable for moving objects or hard-to-reach scenarios. In actual operation, it is necessary to reasonably arrange the sensor position according to the measurement target, set the appropriate sampling frequency and recording time, and calibrate and verify according to relevant standards.
Influencing factors
Measurement accuracy is influenced by various factors. The response time, linearity and long-term stability of the sensor itself are key parameters. Environmental conditions such as electromagnetic interference and mechanical vibration may introduce noise. The installation method affects the thermal contact state, such as the degree of thermal coupling between the sensor and the DUT, and whether the insulation protection is appropriate. In addition, the instrument's sampling rate, resolution, and data storage capacity need to match the actual needs.
Applications:
Temperature curve recorders are widely used in industrial process monitoring, food storage and transportation, material heat treatment, environmental testing, energy management, and scientific research experiments. For example, monitoring the temperature distribution of sterilization processes in food processing, recording reflow temperature curves in electronics manufacturing, or tracking changes in the storage environment in agricultural research. These applications rely on their ability to record continuous, reliable temperature historical data.
Key points of selection
When selecting a model, parameters such as measurement range, accuracy level, number of channels, protection level, and data interface should be comprehensively considered. The measurement range should cover the expected temperature range with an appropriate margin. Accuracy needs to meet the requirements of relevant industry standards. The number of channels depends on the number of monitoring points. When used in harsh environments, attention should be paid to the protective design of the instrument and the weather resistance of the material. Data export should be compatible with existing analytical systems, and some applications may also need to consider certification requirements, such as explosion-proof certification or food contact clearance.
