Principle

This value reflects the ability of the paint film to maintain its integrity during the plastic deformation of the substrate, and its theoretical relationship can be expressed as a function between the coating strain and the deformation of the substrate.
Measurement method
The measurement process strictly follows standard steps. First, prepare a coating specimen that meets the size requirements to ensure uniform thickness and complete curing of the paint film. The specimen is placed between the clamping ring and the retaining ring and fastened so that the coating faces the opposite side of the punch. After starting the machine, the punch is advanced at a uniform speed (usually 0.1-0.5 mm/s) while observing the surface of the paint film. When the paint film cracks or peels off for the first time, stop the test immediately and read the cupping depth value from the instrument digital display device. Each set of specimens should be repeated multiple times to obtain an average value and improve the reliability of the results. After testing, the ambient temperature and humidity conditions should be recorded, as they may affect the coating performance.
