Asphalt RheoMeter

The asphalt rheometer measures the viscoelastic changes of asphalt at different temperatures and frequencies through rotation or oscillation. It is used to simulate the actual stress conditions of pavement, evaluate asphalt's high-temperature rutting resistance, low-temperature crack resistance, and fatigue performance, thereby guiding the design of road material formulations and the quality control of construction.
Selection
When selecting, it is essential to match the actual testing requirements. Consider whether the temperature control range covers the local climate extremes, ensure the rotor system is compatible with the sample form, and verify that the software can output key parameters such as the rutting factor. Additionally, balance ease of operation with data repeatability, and choose between a benchtop or portable model based on the available laboratory space.

How to Choose Between the Ring and Ball Method and the Cup and Ball Method for Softening Point Testers? Read This and Stop Worrying
This article introduces two main methods for determining the softening point of materials: the ring-and-ball method and the cup-and-ball method. The ring-and-ball method is more widely used and is suitable for materials such as asphalt. It involves measuring the temperature at which a steel ball causes the sample to sink. The cup-and-ball method is often used for specific resins or wax products, relying on the flow of the sample or the penetration of a steel ball to determine the endpoint.
