Printing Coating Applicator Rod

The coating rod is a coating tool with a specific diameter of steel wire wound around the surface of a metal rod. Its principle involves controlling the transfer amount of coating material through the gaps between the steel wires to form a uniform wet film on the substrate. Its functions include simulating the printing and coating process and preparing test samples. It is applied in scenarios such as ink opacity testing, paper coating experiments, and coating adhesion evaluation.
Selection
The selection of a coating rod must match the substrate surface characteristics and the viscosity of the coating. For rough substrates, use a rod with a larger wire diameter; for smooth substrates, choose a rod with a finer wire diameter. High-viscosity coatings are suitable for larger wire diameter gaps, while low-viscosity coatings correspond to smaller wire diameter gaps. Consider the coating thickness requirements, as the wire diameter value directly corresponds to the wet film thickness in micrometers. Pay attention to the corrosion resistance of the rod material and the uniformity of the wire winding.
