Cross-cut Adhesion Test Grid

The cross-cut test plate is a tool for assessing coating adhesion, featuring a surface with 100 squares measuring 1mm × 1mm each. During testing, a cross-cut tool is used to create a grid pattern on the coating. After applying adhesive tape and quickly peeling it off, the number of squares removed is used to evaluate the bonding strength between the coating and the substrate. It is used for rapid adhesion testing of coatings, inks, and electroplated layers.
Selection
When selecting cross-cut testers, consider matching the grid spacing with the coating thickness. For thin coatings, choose a 1mm spacing. The blade hardness should be higher than that of the test coating, and stainless steel blades are suitable for most scenarios. Pay attention to the blade edge angle, which should be within the range of 19-30°, and replace the blade if the edge is worn. Select the corresponding specifications according to standards ASTM D3359 or ISO 2409.
