Scraping Rod

The scratch bar consists of a set of metal rods with increasing diameters, coated with the test coating. During testing, it is used to create progressively wider scratches on the coating surface under a fixed pressure. By observing the scale at which the coating begins to fail, the adhesion or hardness can be determined. It is applied in quality control for coatings and inks.
Selection
When selecting, consider the hardness of the substrate; use high-hardness alloy rods for hard substrates. The coating thickness determines the range of rod diameters; choose the fine rod series for thin coatings. Testing standards correspond to the material of the rod; stainless steel is commonly used for international standards. The frequency of use affects wear resistance requirements; choose tungsten carbide material for high-frequency applications. Environmental corrosiveness determines the surface treatment method.
