Coating Cross-Cut Test Plate

The coating cross-cut template is a metal template with equally spaced cutting lines. It is pressed onto the coating surface, and a blade is used to cut through the coating along the grooves down to the substrate, forming a grid of scratches. After applying and peeling off adhesive tape, the area of coating detachment is observed to evaluate adhesion. It is used for testing the bonding strength of thin-layer materials such as coatings and inks.
Selection
When selecting, consider matching the grid spacing to the substrate hardness; use wider spacing for soft substrates. Choose the blade angle based on the coating thickness, using a single-edge blade for thin coatings. Determine the number of cuts according to the test standards, commonly 6 or 11 blades. Stainless steel material ensures blade durability. Grid deformation should be less than 5 micrometers.
