Preparation of tinplate

Tinplate is produced by electroplating a pure tin layer onto low-carbon steel sheets, forming a protective coating. The tin layer isolates air and moisture, preventing the steel from corroding, while also providing good solderability and an attractive appearance. It is widely used in the manufacturing of food cans, chemical barrels, and electronic component casings.
Selection
When selecting, consider the steel plate thickness and tin coating weight, and determine the tin layer thickness based on the corrosiveness of the packaged contents. Use a higher tin amount for food packaging and a lower tin amount for dry items. Check the uniformity and adhesion of the coating to ensure there are no missed plating spots. Refer to industry standards such as GB/T 2520 to determine applicable specifications.
