GlossMeter for printed materials

A print gloss meter determines gloss by measuring the ratio of reflected luminous flux to incident luminous flux on the surface. It is used to detect the light reflection characteristics of printed surfaces and finds applications in print quality control and the evaluation of paper coating effects.
Selection
When selecting, consider matching the measurement angle to the sample's gloss range: use a 20° angle for high gloss, 60° for standard gloss, and 85° for low gloss. Ensure the instrument complies with standards such as ISO 2813, verify the integrity of the calibration plate, and confirm that measurement repeatability is within 0.2 gloss units.

The use of a gloss meter in evaluating the surface gloss of printing paper and art paper.
Gloss meters quantify paper gloss by measuring surface reflected light, with 20°, 60°, and 85° angles commonly used for high, medium, and low gloss surfaces, respectively. The gloss characteristics of printing paper and art paper differ, so the appropriate measurement angle should be selected based on the estimated gloss level.
