Refractometer salinometers determine salinity by measuring changes in the refractive index of light in a liquid. When light passes through the interface between a prism and a sample, the critical angle changes with salinity, allowing concentration values to be read directly from a scale. They are used for rapid salt detection in mariculture, brine pool monitoring, and food processing.
Selection
