Coating Viscosity Flow Cup

The viscosity flow cup measures the time it takes for the fluid to completely drain from a small hole at the bottom of the cup to reflect the flow resistance of the coating. The cup is calibrated with a specific aperture and volume, and a longer drainage time indicates higher viscosity. It is used for on-site rapid assessment of coating dilution levels and application performance, commonly employed in the coating and printing industries to adjust material flow characteristics.
Selection
Select the flow cup model based on the viscosity range of the tested coating, choosing a cup with a larger orifice for high-viscosity coatings. Consider the volatility of the coating and opt for stainless steel material; plastic cups can be used for water-based coatings. Ensure the calibration temperature marked on the cup matches the usage environment, and regularly calibrate orifice wear using standard oil. Flow cup data from different standard systems (e.g., DIN/ISO) is not interchangeable.
