Zahn Flow Cup

The Zahn viscosity cup measures viscosity by recording the time it takes for a fixed volume of fluid to flow out through a small hole at the bottom of the cup. After immersing the cup into the sample and lifting it, the time for the fluid to completely drain is recorded; a longer time indicates higher viscosity. It is commonly used for on-site rapid testing of fluids such as paints and inks, offering simple operation but limited precision.
Selection
When selecting, consider the viscosity range of the fluid being measured, as different models correspond to different measurement intervals. Choose the appropriate orifice cup based on the fluid characteristics: use a standard cup for conventional fluids and a large-orifice cup for fluids containing particles. Be mindful of the effect of temperature on viscosity and maintain consistent testing temperatures. The cup material must be resistant to corrosion by the fluid.
