Overview
The LENETA WC-24 Mayer Rods, also known as the Wire-wound drawdown bar coating applicator or Mayer Rod, is a laboratory tool for preparing coatings into specific Film thickness films. This model of coating applicator is made of all stainless steel, with a Spreader width of 254 mm, a rod diameter of 12.7 mm, a total length of 305 mm, and 25mm handheld sections at each end for good rigidity.
Features
1. Sturdy and durable material: made of all stainless steel, not easy to rust or corrosion, suitable for water-based paints, and nonmagnetic material, can be used with steel plates on magnetic cards.
2. Complete specifications: the wire diameter range covers 0.064mm to 1.9mm, and the preparatory film Film thickness range is from 4.5 microns to 150 microns to meet a variety of Film thickness requirements.
3. Reasonable design: The width of the Spreader is 254 mm, which is enough to cover most standard size baseplates and cardboard; the diameter of the rod body is 12.7 mm, providing good rigidity; the total length is 305 mm, and there are 25 mm hand-held parts at both ends for easy operation.
4. Variety of models: from WC-2.5 to WC-75 and other models, corresponding to different wire diameters and film Film thickness, flexible selection.
Principle
Mayer Rods' Working Principle is based on the precision wire wound on its surface. When the operator places the paint on the substrate and scrapes it with a coating applicator at uniform speed and pressure, the wire wrapped around the rod carries away and defines the excess paint, leaving a film thickness on the substrate surface. A uniform wet-film determined by the diameter of the wire.
Applications
Coating R & D and testing, inks performance evaluation, Adhesive Spreader, laboratory sample prepative, quality control
Standards
The data did not mention specific compliance criteria.
Steps
1. Select the Mayer Rods model corresponding to the target wet film thickness.
2. Pour an appropriate amount of the paint to be tested onto one end of the substrate.
3. Hold both ends of the coating applicator and scrape the coating applicator from one end of the coating to the other end of the substrate at a uniform speed and appropriate pressure.
4. Lift the coating applicator to form a uniform wet-film on the substrate.
Notice
• Please select the appropriate bar type according to the required wet film thickness before use.
• Uniform speed and pressure should be maintained during operation to ensure consistent film Film thickness.
• After use, the coating applicator should be thoroughly cleaned with a suitable solvent in time to prevent the coating residue from curing and affect the accuracy of the next use.
• Avoid bumping or bending the coating applicator to avoid damaging the wound wire and affecting the accuracy of Spreader Film thickness.
• This product is a precision tool, please keep it safe.
