Overview
ERICHSEN Erichsen 232/15μm Grindometer is a precision instrument for measuring the fineness of coatings. It is made of hardened steel and has dimensional Stability. It is equipped with two precisely machined Erichsen grooves and straight edge scrapers. Measurement range is 0~ 15μm.
Features
1. Made of hardened steel and specially treated to ensure dimensional stability; 2. Double-channel design, providing two accurately machined slots; 3. Scale units include μm and Hegman scale (HS), Graduation is 1.5μm; 4. Includes straight edge scraper, scraper size is 125mm, material is stainless steel; 5. Standard Measurement range can be 15/25/50/100μm.
Principle
The fineness meter scrapes the test coating into a V shape, visually finds the position where the particle size of the coating is greater than the height of the V-shaped groove, and reads the depth of the corresponding groove at the boundary between the smooth and uneven surface of the sample. This value is the fineness value of the coating.
Steps
1. Pour enough test material into the deeper end of the trough to avoid bubbles; 2. Hold the scraper perpendicular to the Fineness Gauge and trough, smoothly scrape the material to the narrower end of the trough, Travel within 1-2 seconds; 3. Evaluate within 3 seconds after scraping, line of sight perpendicular to the trough, viewing angle 20-30 degrees, find out the location of particle aggregation or scratch, and read the corresponding trough depth as the fineness value.
Notice
• Wash with solvent immediately after use to avoid using sharp and hard items to remove residual paints; • The straight edge of the scraper is easy to abrasion, and the minimum force should be applied during operation; • Regularly check the scraper and place it on the horizontal plane to check the abrasion according to the principle of light transmission.
