Overview
The American RDS #16 wire-wound applicator is a professional coating tool used to prepare wet films with a thickness of 36.6 μm, featuring a coating width of 300 mm. This coating rod is available in three diameter options: 1/2 inch, 3/8 inch, and 1/4 inch, with the 3/8 inch diameter being the most commonly used due to user habits. The RDS wire-wound applicator is widely applied in experimental research for coating specific wet film thicknesses to evaluate properties such as hiding power and color.
Features
1. Three diameter options (1/2 inch, 3/8 inch, 1/4 inch) are provided to meet different usage habits.
2. The wire-wound production process ensures coating precision.
3. Stainless steel material guarantees durability and corrosion resistance.
4. Precise control of a 36.6 μm wet film thickness.
5. A 300 mm coating width is suitable for various experimental needs.
6. Widely used by domestic researchers for experimental studies in academic papers.
Principle
The RDS wire-wound applicator utilizes a wire-wound design, where precisely wound stainless steel wires scrape the coating material onto the substrate surface to form a wet film of specific thickness. As the applicator moves uniformly across the substrate, the gaps between the wires control the amount of coating retained, thereby producing a precise wet film thickness of 36.6 micrometers.
Applications
Experimental research, hiding power determination, color performance testing, coating development, quality inspection
Steps
1. Prepare the substrate and coating sample for application.
2. Place an appropriate amount of coating at one end of the substrate.
3. Hold both ends of the applicator and draw it across the substrate at a constant speed and pressure.
4. Ensure the applicator maintains even contact with the substrate surface.
5. Clean the applicator after completing the coating process.
Notice
• Ensure the applicator is clean and free of residue before use.
• Maintain a consistent speed and pressure during application.
• Avoid collisions between the applicator and hard objects to prevent damage to the wire.
• Clean promptly after use to prevent the coating from curing.
• Store in a dry environment to avoid rust.
