Overview
The Defelsko PRBFS Series Thickness Gauges Probe are precision measurement Accessories designed for PosiTector thickness gauges that use magnetic Induction and eddy current Measurement principles to accurately measure Coating thickness on ferrous and non-ferrous metal substrates. The series includes a variety of Probe types, covering conventional, miniature, large range, right angle and other designs to meet the needs of a variety of complex measurement scenarios.
Features
1. Provide two main types of detachable built-in Probe and split regular Probe to adapt to different operation needs
2. Multiple Probe Angle options, including 0 °, 45 °, 90 ° design for easy measurement of hard-to-reach areas
3. Specially designed Xtreme Probe with zirconia toughened aluminum oxide abrasion surface, suitable for rough surface measurement
4. FNDS Probe for simultaneous measurement of paints and zinc thickness in composite coating systems
5. Probe measurement of coatings up to 63.5mm thick
6. Probes are waterproof and suitable for underwater measurement applications
Principle
The thickness gauge Probe works based on magnetic Induction and eddy current principles. For ferrous substrates, the magnetic Induction principle is used to measure Coating thickness; for non-ferrous metal substrates, the eddy current principle is used for measurement. The FNDS composite Probe uses both principles to obtain the zinc layer thickness by calculating the difference. All Probe Measurement accuracy is a fixed value plus a percentage of the reading.
Applications
Industrial coatings measurement, marine coatings testing, fire-proof coatings measurement, automotive painting, metal surface preparation, quality control, underwater measurement, rough surface inspection
Standards
Provide calibrated certificate
Steps
1. Choose the Probe model for your measurement needs
2. Connect the Probe to a compatible PosiTector host
3. Measurement mode according to substrate type
4. Place the Probe vertically on the tested surface
5. Measured value of thickness read on display
6. For special Probes such as FNDS, composite coating data can be read simultaneously
Notice
• Ensure that the Probe is compatible with the PosiTector host, some Probes require the host serial number to be greater than 700000
• Keep Probe in vertical contact with the measured surface during measurement
• Probes have specific minimum surface area and minimum substrate thickness requirements
Measurement range and substrate type affect accuracy, please refer to the accuracy parameters of the specific model
• Probes with corresponding Protection Ratings should be selected when using in special environments
Periodically calibrated to ensure measurement accuracy
