Principle
The Working Principle of the pendulum damping tester is to determine the film Hardness based on the damping time of the pendulum swing on the paint film. When the pendulum swings at a certain period, the softer the surface, the faster the swing decay, and vice versa. The results of the Koenig pendulum and platinum shovel pendulum tests cannot be converted to each other, because the interaction between the pendulum and the coating depends on the complex resilience and viscosity characteristics of the coating, so the product standard only specifies the use of one pendulum to determine the damping time of a certain paint film.
